What is CCFE?
The Cross-Cultural Field Experience (CCFE) is a part of the Grace Core, a set of general education courses required for Grace undergraduates. Through this first-hand experience, students will have the opportunity to engage in cultures (i.e. ethnicities or nationalities) other than their own and to master five interrelated cross-cultural skills.
How can you fulfill the CCFE requirement?
CCFE can be fulfilled through three main ways:
1) Participate in a Go Encounter trip!
2) Study abroad during a Go Study or Go Exchange semester!
3) Propose an independently planned trip!
Go Encounter
Go Encounter trips are a great opportunity to travel to a different part of the world while learning and engaging in new cultures.
The trips are planned and led by Grace's own faculty and staff!
Spring Break & May trips are announced during Global Chapel every year, at the beginning of the previous Fall semester.
December trips are announced around March/April of the same year.
Go Study & Go Exchange
Go Study allows students to study languages and experience and understand other cultures, so they are better prepared to work and serve no matter where they are. Several majors and minors, including international business, intercultural studies, and languages, require study abroad.

Go Exchange is open to students of all majors! There programs are taught in English, giving students an opportunity to learn about themselves while learning about the world around them.
CCFE Independent Trip
Students who select the independent trip option to fulfill their Cross-Cultural Field Experience requirement create their own international or domestic field experience in consultation with the Institute for Global Studies. These experiences must be pre-approved by the Institute for Global Studies. Students must complete a proposal form to demonstrate how their trip meets and/or exceeds the HUM 2040 course outcomes.
Note: Please be informed there is a $225 administrative fee attached to this course. Please click "more info" for information about the proposal process, deadlines, and additional fees for rush processing.
